Dollhouse

So I've learned a lot about Dollhouse, one being that their website does not cover their brand.
In reality it actually cover only a fraction of what they actually produce.

Dollhouse is in stores such as

Wetseal
Forever21
Charlotte Russe
TJ Maxx/ Marshalls

the list is constantly growing.

I had no idea about this, but that's because Dollhouse does something called 'private labeling' which is when sells clothes to stores but uses a different name, for example Dollhouse is known to Charlotte Russe customers as Refuge.

This was all very different to me, because I had no idea, that Dollhouse was so influential in the youth fashion world.

While the shock value was high I was excited to be working with the people at Dollhouse, and to be a part of such a wonderful company.

People

The people at Dollhouse are amazing, they are helpful, great teachers and so willing to let me experience the world they work in. Because of their help, I've met some pretty cool people.

Fashion Intern, what?

quick summary

two years ago I visited the Dollhouse show room with my fashion marketing class.
left an email address, and about two sentences on being really interested in interning.

fast forward to about four months ago, I get an email asking if I'd be in New York City this summer, because Dollhouse was looking for interns.

I responded: hell yes.

no, I didn't.
(but that was the idea)

fast forward again, I'm sitting in my god parents house 25 minutes outside of New York City two weeks into one of the best experiences of my existence and I'm in a state of bliss.

day one: met everyone, everyone forgot my name, told everyone my name, they forgot. (rinse and repeat)

after that it has been a whirlwind of organizing samples, updating stock lists, sitting in on buyer meetings, drooling over samples, meeting new people, repeating my name and enjoying every moment of it!

I'm pretty inadequate when it comes to blogging, in the sense that while I'm fully comfortable doing photoshoots, uploading, editing, posting, and writing. I;m not really good with taking outfit of the day pictures of my own attire, maybe its because I actually invest time in photography, and a quick snap of what I'm wearing always feels mediocre and useless. However my god sister is in town starting tomorrow, so I'll have to make her my photo slave. (slavery is wrong you say, and I, in response, laugh and repeat "photo slave! photo slave!" over and over.)

My bestfriend Emily suggested I start vlogging, embracing the idea like an confused turtle. I said..."uh why?"  and she very blatantly said, because you get all weird on camera and tell funny stories."
So basically I'm going to pretend like that was a push in the right direction, and will potentially and probably start vlogging. I mean, life is interesting right now, so why not?

My commute involves a bike ride, a train ride and about fifteen minutes of walking.

My internship is basically a crash course through the Fashion Industry, I know I'm only scratching the surface, but it feels awesome to finally be here in the city, experiencing...everything.

I got lost a lot in the beginning but once you understand the grid system, and that most people wont axe your face if you ask them for directions, things start to get easier.

So, yes. that is all. I will be better about updates. I promise.

Country Strong

It was the end of spring break, and since my awesomely awesome friend Katherine Wilson had just gotten home from the beach I figured that it was high time we did a shoot together.

-I was so excited-

-I might have scared her with my enthusiasm-

Katherine's wardrobe is a fantastic mix of country charm and girly pieces. Taking total advantage of this I decided that doing a southern/cowgirl shoot would be really cool.

So out came my Les Paul, her cowboy hat, and some sweet plaids and tanks.

Colder

Late winter, Julie Kasulis and I, set out into the cold air and did a solid two hour shoot, experimenting in different locations around my house, and testing out the evening light. This shoot was a bit darker, less smiling, it takes on more of a grand, mysterious look than I intended but with Julie's bright red lips and vampire like bone structure, the shoot molded itself into a dark but beautiful story of its own.

Deer Girl

Emily Caron

Late afternoon, all we had was wildflowers, a south moon under dress, and her smile. Perfection.
I'm lucky to be surrounded by beautiful people.

love at first sight

So, I tie-dyed for the very first time. It was awesome. I wanted to go for a super nova- ish galaxy look, and I think it turned out well, I love the blues and purples and got some pretty sick picture while washing the extra dye out.

I have a feeling this is going to be an everlasting love affair.

Embracing Summer

this is a happy picture, a happy moment, a time that makes me smile just by thinking about it, I posted it in celebration of my mood.  I'm in such a state of bliss, even the catastrophes make sense now,
it's a great place to be, where mishaps are fixable and the smallest gestures mean the world.

welcome to my summer :)
